| Examines why individuals behave the way they do and how behavior may be taught, changed, or modified. Historical foundations of the study of behavior and behavior managements, cultural influences, and ethical and legal concerns are also addressed. This course is designed as one credit hour or 15 hours of professional development. |

Students will be able to: * Examine why individuals behave the way they do and how behavior may be taught, changed, or modified. * Learn about the historical foundations of the study of behavior and behavior managements. * Identify the relationship among antecedents, behaviors, and consequences in everyday life. * Describe the basic steps that are necessary when conducting applied behavior analysis in the classroom. * Examine the demographics, history, and other cultural components affecting the behavior of African Americans, Latinos, Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders, and Native Americans. * Develop a plan to address multicultural education in their classroom. * Examine the role of a teacher and the ethical use of behavior management. * Explain how collaboration with parents is planned. * Describe the steps needed for due process. This course is designed as one credit hour or 15 hours of professional development. Check with the institution to be sure if credit is offered for this course. |
| The student will take an objective-based post exam consisting of 10 to 15 multiple choice and true or false questions. A score of 85% or higher is considered successful completion of the course. |
