Full Description
Presents an overview of issues that may arise when instructing reading, writing, and math to students with learning disabilities. Explores teaching strategies used for successful learning. May be taken with a companion course, LH 137.


Outcomes:
Students will be able to:

* Acquire an overview of the reading process, difficulties experienced by students with dyslexia, and practical information which can be used to develop reading instruction programs that will be effective for our students.

* Learn the requisite skills required for success in mathematics.

* Understand dysgraphia and how to teach students to overcome it.

* Become familiar with learning strategies for teaching children with learning disabilities.

This course is designed as one credit hour or 15 hours of professional development. Check with
the institution to be sure if credit is offered for this course.


Assessment:
The student will take an objective-based post exam consisting of 10 to 15 multiple choice and true or false questions. A score of 85% or higher is considered successful completion of the course.
