Architecting Web Content (Master Class)-Self Directed

Full Description

In today`s complex world, information systems are becoming more and more complex as their implementations are becoming ever more advanced. Information systems architecture is the underlying structure that defines and controls the interfaces of information systems and which integrates all of the components of the system. In this course, you will learn how to create consistent structures for your content so that users can find exactly what they want, learn quickly, and act efficiently--buying, voting, learning, or entering a conversation with your team. You’ll learn how to structure your website so it is as effective for the user as possible.

This course is aimed at non-programmers, but many programmers have found it a useful introduction to the idea of information architecture. It is taught from the perspective of content creation so you will learn how to organize your information so that it will make sense to your users and it will be easy for them to use. After learning just what information systems architecture is and what is involved, you will analyze the basic elements of effective Websites. After you know which elements should be included on a Website, you will learn how to manage the content of the site and how to make it highly usable and accessible. After this, you will learn how to improve your Website, you will examine some publishing guidelines, and you will look at some effective marketing strategies.

Each week, you will work through online lessons, research projects, discussion questions, and review tests. This will make sure that you are learning the materials effectively. At the end of the course, you will complete a course project that will integrate the concepts of the course and will tie it all together for you. You can email me questions, stray thoughts, or concerns at any time, and I will get back to you as quickly as I can. The course is designed to help you become a professional, so I invite you to ask any questions that occur to you, along the way.
