Describes the purposes of behavioral assessment, which includes screening, problem identification, treatment selection, and intervention evaluation. Also reviewed are data collection procedures and ethical and legal considerations.

Outcomes:

Students will be able to: * Describe the purposes of behavioral assessment, which include screening, problem identification, treatment selection, and intervention evaluation. * Describe the necessary steps to conduct an effective functional behavioral assessment. * Describe the data collection procedures and how they may be utilized for observing students in the classroom. * Differentiate various dimensions of behavior and their relationship to data collection methods. * Examine the role of a teacher and the ethical use of behavior management. * Explain how collaboration with parents is planned. * Describe the steps needed for due process. This course is designed as one credit hour or 15 hours of professional development. Check with the institution to be sure if credit is offered for this course.

Assessment:

The student will take an objective-based post exam consisting of 10 to 15 multiple choice and true or false questions. A score of 85% or higher is considered successful completion of the course.
