Flash Basics Lesson 1: The first class will focus on several Flash basics. The student will become familiar with the layout of the Flash 5 interface, including its numerous tools and palettes. Lesson 2: Introduces the student to the concept of vector and raster graphics and explains the benefits of using these graphics in Flash. The student will learn how to use the drawing and painting tools available in Flash, and create his own vector graphics in preparation for his first Flash movie.
Importing Graphics and Planning Your Animation Lesson 1: The student will learn how to use the Text tool and associated palettes. This will allow the student to create different size titles and content in an array of various fonts, colors, sizes, and alignments. The student will also learn how to import graphics into his Flash file, which is the primary method of incorporating photographs in a presentation. Lesson 2: Now that the student has a grasp of how to use the basic drawing and typing tools in Flash, it is time to start planning his presentation or product demonstration! Although Flash can be used to make simple animations, it is a very powerful tool, and it can become complex if one does not plan ahead. This lesson will focus on the importance of organizing the movie before starting. Flash uses objects called Layers and Symbols to help simplify an animation. Using symbols and layers properly will save time, and keep the presentation?s file size to a minimum!
Understanding the Timeline Lesson 1: The student has created his/her graphics, organized his Flash movie, and is now ready to begin animating his business presentation or product demo! The key to Flash is to understand the Timeline. In this lesson, the student will learn about the difference between Frames and Key Frames, as well as three different ways to animate objects over time: Frame by frame animation, Tweening, and Scripting. Lesson 2: Additional time will be spent exploring basic scripting techniques in Flash that will help maintain file size and allow for smooth animations. This lesson will explore basic If/Then statements as well as variable declaration. Students will be introduced to Flash help forums and tutorials that are available on the web.
Making a Template Lesson 1: In this lesson, students will learn how to create some basic special effects such as morphing, transparency, color control, and rotation. Lesson 2: Although Flash does not come with presentation templates, it is good practice to create a customizable template using a consistent layout and special effect transitions. The student will learn how to recycle sections of his Flash presentation with new content, by copying and pasting frames and using the Swap Symbols tool.
Finishing the Presentation Lesson 1: This lesson will focus on the basics of creating Buttons in Flash. The student will explore basic scripting which is associated with button creation, as well as Rollover states. These concepts will then be applied to the student''''s presentation as a part of his Navigation, or method of guiding an audience through the presentation or demo. Lesson 2: Upon completing his presentation, the student will learn techniques to minimize presentation file size; methods used to preload graphics; and how to export a completed presentation to view on the web, or as a desktop projector.
