This course follows the American Association Medical Transcription Model Curriculum for Medical Transcription. This complete course combines the most valuable and state of the art training methods available today for those students who want to fast track their Medical Transcription career. Course work is presented in a modular format and focuses on medical transcription techniques. Other modules cover grammar, punctuation and spelling, and provide a structured insight into medical terminology and anatomy, as well as development of personal qualities like professionalism and ethical responsibilities.
This course is structured to provide the student with a solid foundation in the study of anatomy and terminology, as well as highly refined skills in grammar, spelling, proofreading and typing. In addition, students are provided with advanced techniques and practice in transcription to effectively meet all of the challenges in the medical transcription environment. Our advanced medical transcription training is challenging and comprehensive, and prepares the student for employment either from home or in a multi-specialty clinic, hospital, or transcription service centre.

Upon successful completion of this course, students will be able to:
- Accurately transcribe medical material from advanced specialty fields.
- Operate medical transcribing equipment in a competent and efficient manner.
- Proofread, correct and apply grammar principles to all transcripts, thereby producing error-free documents.
- Effectively recognize and define medical terms and abbreviations from more than 10 different medical specialties either from memory or by using a reference book.
- Understand the importance of their role as a Medical Transcriptionist, as well as the professional and ethical responsibilities of an MT.
Assessment
Evaluation of student performance will be based upon the following:
- Instructor evaluated exercises and assignments for each module.
- Individual module exams.
- A comprehensive final exam.
