This course offers you an inexpensive why of learning how to develop multimedia programs using a very powerful authoring program called Authorware. You will need to purchase a textbook, which includes the Authorware program. The textbook guides you step by step through the development of several Authorware projects. The course length of time is based on the free usage of the 45 day trial version of Authorware. An instructor is available by e-mail to answer questions about the Authoring projects. The course comes with a 45 day trail version of Authorware 5.0. I have found that by learning the basics of Authorware 5.0 one can easily move up to Authorware 6 or 7. If you pay for transportation and room/board I would be willing to offer my class on site. I only teach the basics of the Authorware language. I do not get into creating web applications using Authorware. The following items are covering in the course: Authorware Basics, Creating an Authorware application, Adding Motion and Sound, Hot Spot interactions, Text entry interactions, Hot objects interactions, Target area interactions, Pull-Down menus, Concept of variables, Building Framework pages, and Navigate with Hypertext. I live in the Chicago area. If you need additional information let me know.

Week 2
You will learn how to include motion and sound in a multimedia program.
This week you will look at the use of interactivity in a multimedia program. The heart of Authorware is its ability to respond according to what a user clicks on a computer screen. Most of this course is about creating multimedia programs that make use of interactivity. Your first interactivity project is creating a keypress interaction that responds when a user presses keys that you have defined.
Week 3
You will create a hot spot interaction in which users click a location on the computer screen to trigger a response.
You will create text entry interactions that calls for users to respond to questions by typing in the answer. In addition to text entry interactions you will learn how to make multimedia programs more engaging by creating a program structure that randomly selects content.
Week 4
You will create a hot object interaction that permits you to use objects as hot areas on the screen to trigger responses.
This week you will incorporate external media files into a library that you created. A library is method used for storing media for easy access and repeated use, which is a very useful tool for use in Authorware programs. You will also create an interaction in which users drag an object to a location on the screen that you have defined.
Week 5
This week you will create a pull-down menu and learn about Authorware variables and functions.
You will add a digital movie to an Authorware program. After developing Authorware skills you will want to share your work with others. You will learn about distributing an Authorware program.
