Full Description
The course has a total of six chapters. The first five chapters focus on one aspect of the business Spanish language. The last chapter studies the different countries of the Latino world. At the end of each chapter, there is a quiz to test the knowledge acquired. Students are expected to complete a minimum of one hour daily during weekdays, plus two hours during the weekend. A total of seven hours a week are required for understanding and learning the materials included in each chapter. Because this is a very complete course, it is necessary to calculate a total of approximately 50 hours to successfully complete this course. Of the seven weekly hours, half an hour is expected to be of communication with the instructor.


Outcomes:
Students learn to use the target language in an applied way. In addition, students who take this class familiarize themselves with the jargon of the business Spanish world. One of the strengths of the class is that includes all countries in Latin America, also Spain, giving a very broad knowledge of the differences and similarities of the language and culture applied into the business area.


Assessment:
Every chapter includes a quiz at the end to test the knowledge of the students. The quizzes use different formats of testing such as multiple choice, filling the blank, matching, and true or false.
Week 1
The first chapter studies the different kinds of corporations, from the small business, the big corporations, to the non-profit organizations. The Business Plan and the Stock Market are also part of this lesson. Week 2
In Chapter II, we analyze most of the letters used in written communication. We study the different formats of letters in business. Week 3
This chapter explores other kinds of communication such as phone calls and personal meetings Week 4
This chapter focuses on contracts, accounting, and methods of payment. Week 5
Marketing and sales are the topics of this chapter. Students follow a marketing plan and learn all the specific vocabulary used in this important stage of the business world. Week 6
The last chapter studies all the Latino countries from Mexico to the South Cone. It also includes Spain and the United States.
