Week 1
This week, you will learn how to make your own functions in ASP. You will also learn effective use of functions.
Week 2
This week, I will brush over some database creation (some general, some specific for effective usage in ASP). You will also learn how to make an MS Access database be a data source (accessible by ASP).
Week 3
This week, you will be learning ADO through ASP (i.e. how to access a data source through ASP).
Week 4
This week, you will be learning some basic SQL. This will complete learning how to set a database up as a data source, link with it through ASP and get the information you want. You will also learn how to display this information.
Week 5
This week, you will learn how to implement "sessions". This is the way whereby shopping carts on sites can track what you put in them, and it also has other uses.
Week 6
This week, you will learn how to implement user authentication, or how to make a log-in screen and a (mostly) secure site.
| Learn the intricacies of ASP. Learn how to write functions, turn databases into data sources and retrieve data from them, display the retrieved data and write basic SQL queries to get the information you need. Learn how to implement "sessions" (what they use for shopping carts) and user authentication (only let who you want to access your site). You need Windows 98/Me/2000/XP Professional, a copy of Microsoft Access and a text editor (e.g. Notepad) for this course. PREREQUISITES: Mastering ASP 1 (or equivalent knowledge) is needed. Some databasing skills would be useful (you can do this course without them), as we're only going to be brushing over the creation of databases. |
