The Impact of Micro and Macro Cultures in a Global Economy
This course looks at the processes and strategies of what culture is, what role culture plays, the growth of sub-cultures and the multi-dimensional role of leadership. Textbook will be: "Organizational Culture and Leadership", Schein, Edgar H., 2nd Edition, 1992, Jossey-Bass Inc.

Direct application of the learning is the desired outcome. Another outcome will be networking among the participants, facilitating dialogue in future applications. Measurement and successful completion of this course will be based upon weekly assignments and participation in discussion threads and scheduled chat(s).

Assessment in this course will require participants to successfully complete week`s readings, contribute to the discussion threads, write two (2) summary papers including insights of your company’s culture and a vision of where it should be in the future.

Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 1 - 3. Each participant should create an introduction about themselves and their current organizational culture and e-mail it to all participants. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 1.
Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 4-7. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 2.
Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 8-10. Create a 3-5 page (double-spaced) paper detailing the components of your company culture and e-mail it to the course instructor. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 3.
Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 11-14. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 4.
Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 15-17. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 5.
Read " Organizational Culture and Leadership " Chapters 18-19. Create a final summary paper (6-8 pages, double-spaced) to include a re-examination of your initial cultural interpretation and apply the course learnings to articulate your current company’s culture and your role in its evolution. Submit to course instructor via e-mail. Contribute to the discussion thread(s) for Week 6.
