FEA for Design Engineers
As an attendee, you will start with a review of the fundamentals of Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and implications on modeling techniques and accuracy of results. Then, you will perform hands-on error analysis and assess the quality of a finite element model and results of FEA. You will also study different modeling techniques and discuss common misconceptions and traps in the FEA.
Most of the topics will be illustrated with hands-on examples. You will use general purpose software, COSMOSDesignSTAR, however acquired skills will not be software specific. The course will address the most common every day problems facing FEA users and managers in charge of FEA projects.
Objectives
-
Review common traps and misconceptions in the FEA
-
Discuss common modeling errors and present different modeling approaches
-
Provide attendees with skills necessary to perform cost-effective FEA concurrently with design process
-
Provide tools for effective supervision and management of FEA projects
-
Provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange FEA experiences
Benefits
The seminar is designed for engineers using FEA as one of their design tools and for engineering managers in charge of FEA related projects. Whether you do FEA yourself or you supervise FEA projects, the seminar will help you:
-
Avoid pitfalls in FEA
-
Select preferable molding approach to produce reliable results on time
-
Appreciate challenges facing a finite element analyst
-
Provide effective project management
-
Ensure quality and cost-effectiveness of in-house FEA
