This course is intended for the engineering or design department manager. The course provides an overview of all aspects of SolidWorks and provides a number of hands-on exercises to familiarize the manager with how SolidWorks will be used by designers and engineers. The course provides information to allow managers to make proper business decisions on how SolidWorks can be most effectively used.

This course covers the following topics:

Creation and editing of parts, assemblies and drawings in SolidWorks

Top down and bottom up assembly design techniques with SolidWorks

Understanding change management in SolidWorks

Leveraging functionality in SolidWorks for configurations, families of parts, design re-use

Effective data management, including multi-user environments

Review of SolidWorks design case studies

Review of hardware, networking and training recommendations
Prerequisites
Students attending this course are expected to have the following
- Mechanical/Industrial design experience
- Experience with the Windows operating system
