Fire Extinguishers

"Fire Extinguishers" is for all workers. This course teaches how to properly inspect and use a fire extinguisher and looks at the basics of fire protection. Workers will learn what makes fires burn, what the four different classes of fires are, and why it is necessary to use the right type of extinguisher to put out each type of fire. Delivery formats include CD-ROM, LAN, WAN, Intranet, Internet. The course can be customized to meet your site-specific needs. It is currently available in English, French and Spanish, and other language tracks can be added.

Fire Extinguishers
Since fire is one of the most common hazards in the workplace, it is important for your employees to know how to properly us a fire extinguisher if a fire should break out. Of course, fire prevention is always the best safety policy to follow, but prevention is not always possible. This program Teaches your employees how to calmly and effectively deal with fires and correctly use a fire extinguisher.
Twenty nine interactions actively involve the learner in the training. Course resources include a fully narrated glossary of terms. Each term is pronounced and its definition read aloud to the learner. The learner can use the topical index as a reference source even after completing the course.

Locate labels that identify the extinguisher type.
Explain the multi-class markings on some fire extinguishers.
Use proper fire-fighting technique with a fire extinguisher
List the steps to properly use a fire extinguisher.
Explain the need to re-spray a paper, rubbish or trash fire.
Describe the procedure for extinguishing flammable liquids.
Explain why carbon dioxide or halon extinguishers are used.
Recall the need to keep extinguishers 50-75 feet of all work areas.
Recognize areas that require a fire extinguisher.
Inspect extinguishers properly
List items to inspect on the extinguisher.
Agree to treat an extinguisher with any used part as empty.
Cite conditions and situations when a supervisor must be notified.
Respond properly if a fire occurs
Describe when it is safe to attempt to put out a fire yourself.
