At Course Completion At the end of the course, students should be able to: * Implement a fully-featured Windows XP device driver including: * Understand the role and capabilities of a WDM (Windows Driver Model) device driver * Implement Plug and Play for a device driver * Implement standard Open, Close, Read, and Write driver functions * Implement device driver instrumentation using Windows Management Instrumentation (WMI event logging) * Perform interrupt-driven I/O * Perform Direct Memory Access (DMA) I/O * Understand the role of intermediate device drivers * Implement a layered driver * Implement a filter driver * Debug a device driver using standard tools (WINDBG and KD) * Provide for installation of a device driver
