Understanding Seizure Disorders Some studies indicate nearly 1 in 10 Americans will experience a seizure at some point in their lives. Many persons with developmental disabilities experience seizures. During and after a seizure, staff play an important role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the individual. This interactive, self-directed training moduels provides: basic vocabulary and terminology, an overview of normal neurological functions, information about common causes of seizures, descriptions of different types of seizures, and procedures for assisting individuals during seizures.
