This module provides important information about ways in which staff in human service organizations can respond safely and effectively in helping persons with disabilities to deal with the effects of seizures in their daily lives.

Understanding Seizure Disorders
Some studies indicate nearly 1 in 10 Americans will experience a seizure at some point in their lives. Many persons with developmental disabilities experience seizures. During and after a seizure, staff play an important role in maintaining the safety and well-being of the individual. This interactive, self-directed training moduels provides: basic vocabulary and terminology, an overview of normal neurological functions, information about common causes of seizures, descriptions of different types of seizures, and procedures for assisting individuals during seizures.
