CD-ROM based training modules allow for individualized pace and practice, prevent failure through self-correcting feedback, can be available anytime at work or at home, and provide documentation for supervisory and regulatory review. Positive, person-centered approaches to behavior management are important tools for human services workers. This CD-ROM based training module focuses on basic strategies for helping persons with disabilities who need to learn new behaviors or change behavior in order to carry out daily routines at home, at school or in the community.

Introduction to Behavior Management
In order to fully participate in the community, persons with developmental disabilities may need to learn new behaviors or to develop alternative ways of communicating, interacting with others or meeting their own needs. Course objectives include understanding of basic behavioral principles and introduction to common behavioral interventions. Interactive learning experiences address principles of person-centered behavior management, basic observation and labeling of behaviors, behavioral perspectives and terminology, functional analysis and selection of behavioral goals, strategies for behavior change.
