Description

This course teaches the student the concept of database and tables in SQL Server 7.0.  It also covers the tools used to maintain data integrity.  The Implementing SQL Server curriculum prepares the student for the Microsoft Exam 7-029.

Audience

This course is intended for technical managers and application developers who implement a database solution with Microsoft SQL Server client/server database management system.

Prerequisites

An understanding of Windows NT 4.0 Server and Windows 95/98.

Objective

Upon completion of this course, the student will be able to:

  • identify the parts of an SQL Server database
  • create an SQL Server database
  • load data using the Bulk Copy Program utility
  • load data using the BULK INSERT command
  • load data using Data Transformation Services
  • identify the different datatypes provided by SQL Server
  • create tables
  • select an appropriate type of index for a column

  • perform full-text search for specific columns in specific tables
  • create indexes to support full-text search
