The TCP/IP Protocol WBT is the third course of this curriculum. This curriculum prepares the students for the CompTia's Network Certification exam. The course is meant for system administrators and network professionals who want to understand and apply TCP/IP concepts, such as IP subnetting, DHCP, DNS, WINS, and host files. The course describes the main protocols that constitute the TCP/IP suite, including TCP, UDP, POP3, SMTP, SNMP, FTP, HTTP, and IP. It explains how and when to use the TCP/IP utilities, such as arp, telnet, nbstat, traceroute, netstat, ipconfig/winipcfg, ftp, ping to test, validate, and troubleshoot IP connectivity. It also describes TCP/IP configuration concepts including the definition of IP proxy and its uses. Additionally, the students will get an overview of the normal configuration parameters for a workstation, including IP address, DNS, default gateway, IP proxy configuration, WINS, and DHCP. System administrators and network professionals who want to understand the details of TCP/IP protocol to aid them in troubleshooting.
