The Working with ActionScript & Generator course is the fourth course in the Flash 5 curriculum. This course teaches users to write programs using ActionScript which is the scripting language of Flash. It also teaches users how to use XML in Flash and Generator.

Audience
This course is designed for users who want to create interactive applications such as games and Web applications that interact with a database or a server-side Internet application.
Prerequisites
Users should know how to create Flash animations and should have basic knowledge about creating XML documents.
Objective
Upon completion of this course the student will be able to:
- Identify the features of Flash 5 ActionScript and create expressions and ActionScript functions
- Describe the Normal and Expert modes of the Actions panel
- Create expressions and ActionScript functions Debug scripts
- Create arrays custom objects and forms
- Use predefined ActionScript objects to add interactivity
- Describe communication between different Timelines
- Control the behavior and appearance of movie clips
- Print Flash movies from the Flash Player
- Use XML in Flash
- List the features of Generator
- Insert Generator objects in a template and process Generator templates
- Specify variables and data sources for templates
- Modify instances dynamically
