Audience

This course is intended for end users who want to learn the fundamental capabilities of Approach. Participants should have taken Microsoft Windows 95 - Fundamentals (Course 70011).

Objective



  • Identify the functions and elements of Approach 97.

  • Join databases create charts and integrate data from other applications.

  • Locate data in Approach 97 databases using the Find/Sort Assistant.

  • Improve data entry by using forms and views and ensure data integrity.

  • Identify the types of reports that can be generated in Approach 97.

  • Create and modify reports.

Unit 1: Approach 97: An Introduction

  • Identify the functions of Approach 97.
  • Launch Approach 97 from the Windows 95 desktop.
  • Match the elements of the Action Bar with their functions.
  • Match the buttons in the Approach 97 StatusBar with their functions.
  • Match the SmartIcons in Approach 97 with their functions.
  • Identify the factors that determine the planning of a database.
  • Match the database elements with their descriptions.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
