Lotus Domino R5 System Administration Part 1: Planning a Notes/Domino Infrastructure

Audience

This course series is for system administrators who are responsible for Domino server and Notes client. Participants should have completed NETg course 13403 Lotus Domino R5 Development Part 1: Basic Concepts or have equivalent knowledge.

Objective

• Form the correct hierarchical name for a specified user given an organizational structure.
• Identify the strategies to be followed while specifying hierarchical names.

• Identify the hardware considerations that will affect a rollout plan.
• Identify the software considerations that affect a rollout plan.
• Identify the user considerations that affect a rollout plan.
• Match the servers with the function they perform.

Unit 2: Planning a Domino Connection

• Match the operating systems with protocols they support in Domino.
• Identify the protocol that is best suited for a given Domino network.
• Identify the requirements for setting up a server for a direct dial-up connection.
• Identify the requirements for setting up a server for a network dial-up connection.
• Identify the requirements for setting up a server for passthru access.
• Identify the requirements for setting up a server for Internet access.
• Identify the type of remote access connection that should be selected for the given Domino network.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

• At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
• Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
• At least 8MB RAM.
• At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
• At least a double speed CDROM drive.
• An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).

• At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
• Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
• At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
• At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
