Audience
This course series is for system administrators who are responsible for Domino server and Notes client. Participants should have completed NETg course 13403 Lotus Domino R5 Development Part 1: Basic Concepts or have equivalent knowledge and have completed the first three courses in this series.
Objective
- Identify the factors that need to be considered before registering a user in Notes R5.
- Register a user in Notes R5.
- Install and configure Notes R5.

Unit 1: User Registration: Preparation
- Identify the correct naming scheme for registering a user in Domino R5.
- Register an Organizational Unit in Domino R5 by using the Configuration tab in Domino Administrator.
- Enable the alternate language support by using the Configuration tab in Domino Administrator.
- Identify the factors to be considered before creating a user setup profile.
- Create a user setup profile by using the Other dialog box.
- Given a scenario identify the appropriate access option for securing a workstation ECL.
- Configure a workstation ECL by modifying the Administrator ECL.
Unit 2: Users: Registration and Migration
- Identify the files and documents that are created during the registration of a user in Domino R5.
- Register a user in Domino R5.
- Identify the parameters of a text file that are used for registering a user in Notes R5.
- Register a group of users in Domino R5.
- Identify the steps to be performed before migrating a group of Microsoft Exchange users to Domino R5.
- Migrate a group of Microsoft Exchange users from the Microsoft Exchange Server 5.0 to Domino R5.
- Sequence the steps to be performed for migrating a group of users from an LDIF file to Domino R5.
- Sequence the steps to be performed for migrating a group of users from cc: Mail to Domino R5.
Unit 3: Notes R5: Installation and Configuration
- Install the Notes Client.
- Configure Notes R5 by using the Lotus Notes Client Configuration Wizard.
- Identify the benefits of a mobile directory catalog.
- Create a location document.
- Configure a location document to enable Internet connectivity.
- Configure a location document to enable connectivity for a LAN user.
- Configure Notes R5 to prompt for a location option.
- Create a replication schedule by using Notes Replicator.
- Create the local replica of a database.
- Create a connection document.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
