Description

This is the second course of the series on the new features of Domino 6. This course teaches how to manage Web users and files. You will also learn how to control mail and about the LDAP enhancements in Domino 6. Finally, you learn about performance optimization in Domino 6. This includes monitoring the server environment and the various methods used to improve performance.

Audience

The audience consists of system administrators that are involved in deploying advanced Domino features and tuning Domino systems. They may have the task of migrating to Domino 6 or coexisting with R5. It is assumed that this audience has experience in the system administration of Domino 5.

Unit 1: Managing Users and Files

  • Identify characteristics of a multi-user workstation.

  • Identify features of the Domino Upgrade Services migration tool.
  • Sequence the steps for upgrading a Notes client with IBM Lotus Notes Smart Upgrade.
  • Identify features of the Internet Sites view.
  • Identify features of Web site rules in Domino 6.
  • Identify features of Single Sign-on (SSO).
  • Create the domain-wide Single Sign-on (SSO) Configuration document.
  • Enable Single Sign-on (SSO) in a server document.
  • Identify Internet Message Access Protocol (IMAP) enhancements in Domino 6.
  • Identify steps to prepare the Domino 6 environment for Web-based Distributed Authoring and Versioning (WebDAV).

Unit 3: Optimizing Performance

  • Identify functions of the Find Server tool.
  • Identify options available for monitoring server performance.
  • Identify features of a statistics chart.
  • Identify options available when enabling activity logging.
  • Identify features of the Domino 6 On-Disk Structure (ODS).
  • Identify enhancements to shared mail.
  • Identify options for setting up shared mail on the Shared Mail tab.
  • Identify characteristics of fault recovery.
  • Identify transaction logging enhancements in Domino 6.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
