Description

This second course in the DCN curriculum teaches the learner how to design a network structure appropriate to the existing network and needs of a customer. It provides a number of guidelines for provisioning hardware and media for a LAN or WAN. It also covers Network Layer Addressing and Naming Models and how to analyze and select routing and bridging protocols.

Audience

Individuals with a high level of internetworking knowledge. They may even be previously Cisco certified for another track (CCNA, etc.). They will want to focus on the design aspect of our courses or on Cisco products in particular. Engineers or people who have experience of working 'on the ground' in a Cisco environment. They may want to better understand the networking technologies and the theory behind a Cisco solution. IT professional focused on gaining a better understanding of the Cisco solution that their consultants want to install. This course is also intended to help candidates prepare for Exam 640-441 to become a Cisco Certified Design Associate (CCDA).

Prerequisites

(Currently no course prerequisite information)

Objective

  • Identify the features of hierarchical models.
  • Identify the features of different information flow diagrams.
  • Identify the differences between switching and routing.
  • Identify Fast Ethernet and tokenpassing design rules.
  • Identify WAN design considerations.
  • Identify the guidelines for designing and managing IP addressing.
  • Identify the guidelines for managing IPX addresses.
