This course covers the use, operation, configuration, and verification of Open Shortest Path First (OSPF) in a single area and multiple areas. In the case of OSPF in a single areas it covers, IP and Hierarchical Addressing, VLSM, Route summarization, Interdomain Routing, and Helper Addresses While in the case of OSPF in a multiple areas. It covers, creating multiple OSPF areas and OSPF operation across multiple areas. It also covers virtual links and how to configure and use OSPF multi-area components. Finally, it covers how to verify OSPF operation. The material for this part of the course is expected to be drawn from chapters 4 and 5 of the ILT.

Description

This course covers the different ways to control routing update information. It also discusses route redistribution to interconnect networks that use multiple routing protocols. Configuration techniques are also discussed.

Audience

Network Administrator, Network Designer, Network Specialist, Network Technician; engineers who are involved in designing, expanding, and planning new Cisco internetworks for small, medium, or large enterprises and also configuring and supporting multiprotocol internetworks. The prerequisite skills for this course can be gained from successfully completing other Cisco educational offerings, as follows: Internetworking Technologies Multimedia (ITM) 2.0 - NETg courses (20011-14) and Interconnecting Cisco Network Devices (ICND).

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended.
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 14MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
