Unit 1: Background Information

  • List four truths about change.
  • Identify three common misconceptions about change.
  • Differentiate between change and transition.
  • List the three phases of the transition process.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will meet with Carla Jackson one of Icon International's Human Resources Assistants. You will discuss the truths about change the difference between change and transition and the transition process.

Unit 2: Responding to Change

  • Identify four factors that affect your response to change.
  • List three reactions people have to change.
  • List three common responses to the endings phase of transition.
  • Identify people's needs during the endings phase of transition.
  • Apply strategies to help manage the endings phase of transition.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will be meeting with Icon International's District Manager Director of Finance and Product Manager to discuss a competitor's recent acquisition of a company that is similar to Icon but has a superior product line. The team will need to identify how the organization is responding to change and apply strategies to manage the endings phase of a transition.

Unit 3: Coping with Uncertainty

  • List three common emotions experienced during the exploration phase of transition.
  • List the positive and negative symptoms experienced during the exploration phase.
  • Identify people's needs during the exploration phase.
  • Apply strategies to help manage the exploration phase.
  • Use steps to help manage the uncertainty of the exploration phase.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will be meeting with Icon's District Manager and two Account Executives. You will be discussing the recent merger of two Icon product lines and what effect this will have on the sales team. Your goal is to effectively handle common emotions shown during the exploration phase identify the needs of the team members and manage the uncertainty of the transition.

Unit 4: Moving Forward

  • Identify people's needs during the new beginnings phase of transition.
  • Apply strategies to help manage the new beginnings phase.
  • Apply three guidelines for communicating during the new beginnings phase.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will meet with the Vice President of Marketing and a Product Manager to discuss the restructuring of their department. Your goal is to identify each person's needs and manage the new beginnings phase.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
