  • Identify the advantages of using Gantt Charts.

  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you meet with David Morris an experienced project manager at Icon. David will ask you a series of questions about the fundamentals of project development and the various techniques and diagrams that you can use to ensure effective project schedules.

Unit 2: Scheduling the Project

  • Identify characteristics of the critical path.
  • Identify features of CPM and PERT.
  • Sequence the steps for CPM scheduling.
  • Calculate EFT for an activity.
  • Calculate LST for an activity.
  • Calculate float for an activity.
  • Perform CPM calculations.

  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will be meeting with Icon's Director of Product Development Ronald Spear. Ronald has many years of experience developing and implementing project schedules and he will be assessing your knowledge of the CPM and PERT techniques as well as methods of duration compression.

Unit 3: Understanding Financial Issues

  • Identify the historical data sources you can use to estimate cost.
  • Identify common issues related to cost estimating.
  • Identify the organizational financial issues that can affect project costs.
  • Identify project costs.
  • Identify the actions that can help you make the most of available funds.
  • Identify actions that can help you optimize the project budget.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will be meeting with Caroline Harris Icon's Marketing Manager. As part of Caroline's job she deals frequently with project cost estimation and budgeting issues. To prepare you for handling similar constraints with your own projects Caroline will ask you a series of questions to gauge your understanding of the financial issues that surround the project management process.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
