Unit 1: Background Information
- Identify the characteristics of teams.
- Differentiate between groups and teams.
- Develop the qualities of a good team leader.
- Recognize the lifecycle of a team.
- Simulation Overview:
- Each of the simulations allows you to practice the skills learned in the instructional content. You will enter realistic scenarios in which you will interact with a variety of individuals. By using the knowledge you have gained you control the outcome of each simulation.
Unit 2: Setting Goals
- Understanding why setting goals is important within teams.
- Set SMART goals.
- Identify management styles that enhance and hinder goal setting.
- Motivate team members to reach goals.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you will be leading four team members thorough a project to coordinate the development and release of a new product before one of your competitors unveils a similar model. You will need to help your team define and commit to its overall goal for the project.
Unit 3: Resolving Conflict
- Understand the benefits of team conflict.
- Identify when conflict is unhealthy.
- Make conflict a positive experience.
- Resolve conflict between yourself and other team members.
- Perform team conflict resolution.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you will help resolve conflicts that develop within your team as it discusses the development of the new product. You need to manage the conflict in a constructive manner in order to benefit from the situation.
Unit 4: Making Decisions and Solving Problems
- Involve the entire team in problem solving.
- Make effective team decisions.
- Solve problems creatively.
- Identify problem solving distractions.
- Combat groupthink.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you help your team make effective decisions. You need to recognize when groupthink is occurring and take action to eliminate it. You will use your leadership abilities to help your team reach consensus on a variety of issues related to the release of the new product.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
