Unit 1: Background Information
- Recognize the importance of goal setting.
- Understand the benefits of meeting goals.
- Make goals work.
- Translate goals into results.
- Set goals for more difficult projects.
- Simulation Overview:
- In each simulation you will practice the skills learned in the instructional content. You will enter realistic scenarios in which you will interact with a variety of individuals. By using the knowledge you have gained you control the outcome of each simulation.
Unit 2: Setting Project Goals
- Take the steps needed to develop effective goals.
- Adjust goals appropriately.
- Communicate assertively.
- Recognize how to gain support for goals.
- Reinforce positive behavior.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you are meeting with the Branch and Operations Managers of the new West Coast branch opening in San Francisco. You will be discussing equipment and training problems the managers have encountered while preparing for the opening.
Unit 3: Managing Goal Achievement
- Establish commitment for achieving goals.
- Maintain support for goals.
- Identify the tools used to meet goals.
- Recognize four causes of goal-centered stress.
- Use goals to reduce stress.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you are meeting with the Sales Product and Information Systems Managers of your organization's Dallas branch to discuss an important deadline that was recently missed. This office has been failing to meet sales goals and a customer-billing problem has resulted in lost income.
Unit 4: Setting Strategic Goals
- Use goal setting as a management technique.
- Set strategic goals.
- Recognize how strategic goals differ from individual goals.
- Identify factors that influence strategic goals.
- Avoid common obstacles when setting goals.
- Simulation Overview:
- In this simulation you are meeting with the Marketing and Operations Directors at national headquarters in New York City. You will be discussing whether you should expand your services from providing insurance to include complete financial planning.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
