Topics Include
Unit 1: Understanding Learning Organization
- List the steps a learning organization takes to build a progressive environment.
- Identify one of two reasons organizational leaders believe a learning organizational environment is necessary.
- Follow the process for adapting your employees to the learning organizational style.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you act as the Resources Advisor for Icon. You will meet with Maggie Roberts and Bruce Madison two recruiters from the Champion Recruiting Firm. Icon recently purchased this firm so Maggie and Bruce are new employees to the organization. Although their job duties will remain the same you will need to communicate the organizational differences between Champion and Icon. In addition it will be important to help both employees adapt from Champion's traditional workplace environment to the learning organizational style that is in place at Icon.
Unit 2: Developing Leadership Character
- Identify the roles of leadership.
- Select traits of a leader in the LEADERSHIP acronym.
- Communicate effectively with the employee.
- Model LEADERSHIP traits.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you will meet with Robin Carlson a Market Research Analyst with a solid record of achievement at Icon. As the Marketing Director you will need to communicate to Robin why she was not chosen for a promotion from within the department. Using frontline leadership traits explain to Robin the reasons behind the decision and discuss other career possibilities for her within Icon.
Unit 3: Gaining Skills for Leadership
- Identify the skills a frontline leader needs to obtain.
- Identify steps of the conflict resolution process.
- Follow steps to resolve conflict.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you act as a Regional Sales Director for Icon. It will be your responsibility to resolve a conflict between John Cunningham a District Sales Manager and Monica Washington an Accounting Supervisor. A number of Sales Representatives from John's district have not yet received their quarterly bonus checks. The bonus checks are over three weeks late and John is accusing the Accounting Department of mishandling the situation. You will need to effectively communicate with both John and Monica in order to determine the extent of the situation which will require excellent conflict resolution skills.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
