Objective

Unit 1: Understanding Gender Roles in Leadership
- Identify characteristics of the old construct of leadership and business.
- Identify characteristics of the new construct of leadership and business.
- Identify myths associated with women in leadership.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you will meet with Rebecca Helton a senior manager in Icon's Sales department to discuss how gender roles in leadership have changed. Rebecca worked her way up through the ranks at Icon and was one of the fist women to attain a senior management position. Today she will test your understanding of both the old and new construct of leadership in business as well as myths associated with women in leadership with questions and scenarios for you to evaluate.
Unit 2: Understanding Barriers to Leadership
- Identify the guidelines for discovering barriers in your organization.
- Identify the common current barriers to leadership for women.
- Sequence the steps for addressing barriers.
- Identify the steps for addressing barriers.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you will meet with Robin Carlson Icon's vice president of market research to discuss some of the guidelines for discovering barriers in your organization. In order to achieve her current level of success Robin has had to overcome many barriers to leadership and because of this she is very active in trying to address similar barriers within Icon. Today she will be testing your understanding of barriers to leadership with a series of questions and scenarios for you to evaluate.
Unit 3: Understanding Leadership Styles
- Identify the common styles of leadership.
- Sequence the steps for encouraging leadership growth in others.
- Follow the steps for encouraging leadership growth in others.
- Simulation Overview:
- In the simulation at the end of this unit you will meet with Kristen Anderson one of Icon's sales supervisors to discuss her potential as a future leader within Icon. Kristen has been reluctant to lead teams and to volunteer for such opportunities but she has shown remarkable potential in her ability to lead project teams and to bring the best out of the employees she supervises. Today you need to help Kristen identify her leadership style and follow the steps for encouraging growth in her leadership capabilities.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
