  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will meet with Maggie Roberts one of Icon's Budget Accountants to discuss why businesses design budgets. Maggie has played an integral role in Icon's budget and she will be asking you a series of questions designed to increase your understanding of budgeting basics. Through her questions and your answers you will be able to identify the purposes of budgeting distinguish between different types of budgets and list common the steps of the budgeting process.

Unit 2: Compiling the Parts of the Budget

  • Match each element of a successful budget to its definition.
  • Identify the elements of a successful budget.
  • Identify the components of a cash flow statement.
  • Identify reasons to consult with others when developing a budget.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will meet with Elizabeth Thomas a Budget Analyst in Icon's Financial Services Department to discuss how different parts of a budget are compiled. Since the main goal for your meeting with Elizabeth will be increasing your understanding how a budget is put together she'll be asking you a series of questions on both the parts of a budget and the process for putting a budget together. Through her questions and your answers you will be able to identify the elements of a successful budget the components of a cash flow statement and the reasons to consult with others when developing a budget.

Unit 3: Reviewing the Budget

  • Identify five methods for analyzing budget information.
  • Identify guidelines to remember during the budgeting process.
  • Identify common pitfalls you should avoid during the budgeting process.
  • Simulation Overview:
  • In this simulation you will meet with John Cunningham a senior member of Icon's budgeting team to discuss the process for reviewing a budget. Since John has been a Budgeting Accountant at Icon for over a decade he has reviewed all types and sizes of budgets throughout his career. Today he will be asking you a series of questions designed to increase your understanding of how a budget is reviewed. Through his questions and your answers you will identify five methods for analyzing budget information as well as guidelines to remember and pitfalls to avoid during the budgeting process.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
