This is the second course in a two-part series based on the ILT course Oracle Designer: First Class. The course takes students along a streamlined path through the Oracle Designer development environment. Transforming the analysis model into design level definitions refining the data and application designs and generating database objects and simple WebServer applications are covered. This course is part of an Oracle integrated curriculum and forms the core course to all the Oracle Designer courses.

Audience
Business analysts project leaders designer/developers Web application developers data administrators and database administrators. Participants should have taken the first part in this series Oracle Designer First Class: Analysis (course 61411).
Objective
- Transform the analysis model into design definitions.
- Refine generate and build the database design.
- Design and generate an application system that includes a Oracle Developer form and an Oracle WebServer application.
Topics Include
Unit 1: Oracle Designer Introduction
- Identify the concepts behind Oracle Designer.
- Identify the uses of Oracle Designer components.
- Identify the techniques used in Oracle Designer during the four stages of development.
- Implement each of the techniques used in Oracle Designer during the four stages of development.
Unit 2: Server Design and Generation
- Understand the basic theory behind information modeling and data design.
- Map entities and relationships to table definitions using the Database Transformer.
- Learn how to use the Design Editor for database and application design and generation.
- Use the Design Editor to illustrate and modify the database design.
- Generate both database objects and the Table API.
Unit 3: Application Design and Generation
- Refine column display properties to prepare for module generation.
- Give a working knowledge of how the Application Design Transformer to convert function definitions and data usages into module specifications.
- Generate a prototype from the first-cut application design.
- Modify a module that has been created by the Application Design Transformer into a well-structured module which can be generated into a fully functional Form Builder form.
- Use other influences of Designer to enhance the results of a generated form.
- Create a new module and copy an existing module using the facilities provided by the Design Editor.
- Generate basic WebServer applications that enable users to query update delete and enter information in an Oracle database over the World Wide Web.
- Generate install and run a Web application.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
