Description
This multimedia self-paced learning course will explore advanced features of Windows 95. This course is intended for users who are looking to explore the advanced features of Windows 95. Participants should have taken Microsoft Windows 95 - Fundamentals (Course 70011).

Objective
- Create a custom Windows 95 environment suited to your work processes.
- Backup and restore files; find and repair problems; and double check disk storage.
- Use shortcuts and tips to place, find, access, format, associate, disassociate and link files.
- Move objects between applications.
- Install, connect, remove and change default printers.
- Create, format, send and receive a fax.

Unit 1 -- Customize Your Desktop - Add new selections to the Windows 95 Start menu and remove entries from the Window 95 Start menu.
- Create Sub-menus in the Windows 95 start menu environment.
- Work with the Windows 95 Help facility to get immediate help, rebuild a help database and look up tips.
- Change and adjust the keyboard settings.
- Adjust mouse movement, button preferences, pointer selection and mouse type.
- Close an existing folder window when opening a new folder.
Unit 2 -- Work with Files and Utilities - Customize the options for viewing resources in Explorer.
- Identify the purpose and types of a backup.
- Back-up only files that have changed since the last backup.
- Restore a file of the same name supporting a more recent date and time stamp.
- Scan any disks or drives to find and repair problems.
- Use DriveSpace to double the disk storage.
- Set up the CD player to recognize and store a custom play sequence for a CD.
- Work with the interfaces in media player: Video for windows, CD-Audio, MIDI Sequencer and Sound files.
- Adjust Audio, Video, MIDI, and CD settings through the Control Panel.
Unit 3 -- Shortcuts and Time Savers - Create a document shortcut on your desktop.
- Remove shortcuts from the desktop temporarily or permanently.
- Use Microsoft Exchange Program to create a scrap in E-mail.
- Use quick ways to expand and collapse folders in Explorer.
- Launch files without the default association of the application.
- Identify the function of OLE in Windows 95.
- Run a batch file from Windows 95 and MS-DOS window.
- Copy data from an MS-DOS window to a Windows 95 window.
Unit 4 -- Hardware, Software, and Print Management - Add new hardware using the Add New Hardware Wizard.
- Install Quick View and Online Users Guide.
- Remove unnecessary Windows 95 components and software.
- Access, delete, view and install fonts.
- Install a Local Printer with the Print Wizard.
- Connect to a Network Printer.
Unit 5 -- Communications and Networks - Customize the Microsoft Fax Setup.
- Add a fax user to the address book.
- Send a fax and create a fax printer icon.
- Send a fax from Microsoft Exchange.
- Receive a fax and manipulate it in a Fax Viewer.
- Set up a User password and profile and work with network facilities.
- Understand the purpose of Remote Administration and User Profiles.
- State basic security concepts and describe the purpose of User-Level Security or Share-Level Security.
Unit 6 -- Remote Computing - Use direct cable connection to link two computers.
- Set up and start the host computer.
- Work with Microsoft Briefcase to manipulate files.
- Set up Power Management and work with Power Management in Widows 95.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
