Description
This multimedia self-paced learning course will instruct you to perform key PowerPoint functions to create eye-catching presentations. The unique Skill Builder instruction uses text, voice, questioning, practice, quizzes and multiple study paths to create a learning environment that enhances your enjoyment and comprehension. Mastery tests at the end of each unit allow you to verify your understanding of key skills and guide you back to any content that warrants further study.
Audience
This course is intended for users with little or no PowerPoint experience, who wish to learn to create and present text slide presentations. Participants should have taken Microsoft Windows 95 Fundamentals (Course 70011).

Objective
Upon completion of this course, the student will understand:
- Import and link data (OLE) into a chart.
- Use PowerPoint tools to enhance a slide show.
- Prepare and conduct a presentation.
- Package a presentation using the Pack and Go Wizard.
- Access help using the Help Topics dialog box and the Answer Wizard.
Topics Include
Unit 1 -- Never Used PowerPoint 95 (An Introduction) 0.5 hours
- Identify characteristics of PowerPoint 95.
- Start PowerPoint from the Microsoft Office Toolbar.
- Identify the purposes of screen elements in a PowerPoint 95 window.
- Learn what a template is and how they are used in a PowerPoint presentation.
Unit 2 -- PowerPoint Basics 1 hour
- Introduce new features in PowerPoint 95.
- Learn about the new features that will help in creating graphics, developing a presentation and help control a presentation.
- Create a presentation using AutoContent Wizard, Template and a blank presentation template.
- Create a presentation using the Outline features.
- Import an outline from Word into PowerPoint.
- View and navigate in a presentation using Slide View, Outline View, Slide Sorter View, Notes Pages View and Slide Show.
- Insert new text into a PowerPoint slide.
- Reorganize a slide presentation by copying, rearranging, deleting and inserting slides.
Unit 3 -- Embellishing a Presentation 1 hour
- Identify the parts of a datasheet and chart.
- Insert a chart, change the format of chart parts and modify the datasheet.
- Import Excel data into a PowerPoint chart.
- Display an object as an icon in a slide.
- Insert clip art using the AutoClipArt method.
- Use the Drawing Tools to add a graphic to a slide.
- Insert a table into a slide.
- Insert and play sound and movie objects into a slide.
Unit 4 -- Adding Special Effects 0.75 hours
- Add special effects to a presentation by adding slide transitions, build title slide text and create custom builds.
- Add slide transition effects that effect multiple screens.
- Fine-tune a presentation by hiding a slide, changing the slide’s color scheme and developing speaker’s notes.
TUnit 5 -- Presentation Techniques 0.75 hours
- Use the Rehearse Timings tool to rehearse a presentation.
- Use the Slide Show Meter to track a presentation’s run time.
- Draw on a screen during a presentation.
- Create a presentation that continuously loops.
- Use the Slide Navigator to branch to a slide in the same or different presentation.
- View a packaged presentation using the PowerPoint Viewer.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended. (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 17MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
