Description

This course is the first of a two part series which will cover the skills necessary for the Expert User certification exam. The unique Skill Builder instruction uses simulation, questioning, practice, quizzes and multiple study paths to create a learning environment that enhances your enjoyment and comprehension. Preassessment testing in the beginning of each unit will allow you to have a personalized study path based on the knowledge and skills demonstrated. Audience

This course is intended for anyone interested in learning the capabilities of Microsoft Outlook 97. Participants should have taken Microsoft Windows 95 Fundamentals (Course 70011).

Objective

  • Understand the fundamental capabilities of Microsoft Outlook 97.
  • Use the electronic mail component.
  • Use the Group Scheduling component of Outlook 97.

Unit 1: Introduction to Outlook 97

  • Identify the features of the components of Outlook and navigate in Outlook.
  • Start Outlook.
  • Identify the functions of the on-screen components used for navigation.
  • Work with Office Assistant.
  • Identify the elements of the e-mail and Group Scheduling component.

Unit 2: Using the Electronic Mail Component

  • Work with mail messages.
  • Send a new mail message using the address book.
  • Reply to a mail message.
  • Forward a mail message.
  • Add a custom signature to a mail message using AutoSignature.
  • Mark the status of a mail message: Mark as read. Mark as unread.
  • Locate information about a name using the address book.
  • Work with the address book.
  • Create a voting button in a mail message.
  • Set up Remote Mail.
  • Work with mail messages using the Remote Mail facility.
  • Flag a message.
  • Given a standard message, create a reusable template.
  • Recall a sent mail message.
  • Set messaging handling options.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
