This course is intended for end users who are looking to use the fundamental features of Microsoft Outlook 98. This course is the first part of a two part series that will prepare individuals for the Microsoft Outlook 98 Expert User certification exam.

  • Navigate and use the basic components of Outlook 98 effectively in an office environment.
  • Share information with other Outlook 98 users in an office environment.
  • Use Outlook 98 mail service to communicate with others in an office environment.
  • Use Outlook 98 to schedule work in an office environment.

Unit 1: Managing Work: Outlook 98 Basics

  • Identify the components and the benefits of Outlook 98.
  • Modify the Outlook Today page by using the Options label.
  • Create a shortcut to a folder on Outlook Bar.
  • Customize the toolbar in Outlook 98.
  • Set the options to organize the items in the Inbox of Outlook 98 by using the Organize page.
  • Locate specific Outlook items by using the Advanced Find option of Outlook 98.
  • Access specific information by using the Help menu.
  • Display specific help information by using the Office Assistant.

Unit 2: Sharing Information: Outlook 98 Folders

  • Match the Outlook 98 folder types with the situations in which they are used.
  • Create an Offline folder file.
  • Set the options to synchronize Offline folders.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
