This course is the first part of a three part series for IT Professionals. This series will discuss Microsoft's philosophy on team organization, introduces a milestone-driven process model to manage the risks inherent in a dynamic environment, and provides an architectural framework for MultiThreaded development that emphasizes reusability and distribution.

This series will discuss Microsoft's philosophy on team organization, introduces a milestone-driven process model to manage the risks inherent in a dynamic environment, and provides an architectural framework for MultiThreaded development that emphasizes reusability and distribution.

Objective

  • Identify the opportunities for the IT industry in the current business climate and the reasons for the success or failure of an IT project.
  • Identify the purpose and components of the Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF) and the components of the Solutions Development Discipline (SDD).
  • Identify the features, purpose and implementation of Team, Process and Application models.
  • Define risk, articulate the components of risk statement and identify the risk management process.

Unit 1: Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF)

  • Identify the characteristics of the current business scenario.
  • Identify the opportunities that IT organizations can exploit to offer value in the current business scenario.
  • Identify the root causes of the failure of a project.
  • Identify the guidelines of a framework for successful IT projects.
  • Identify the purpose of Microsoft Solutions Framework (MSF).
  • Match elements of the MSF life cycle with their characteristics.
  • Identify the models of MSF.
  • Identify the components of Solutions Development Discipline (SDD).

Unit 2: SDD Models

  • Identify the characteristics of Team of Peers concept.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and XXMB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
