Microsoft Windows 2000: Upgrading from Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 Part 2

Audience

The target audiences for this course are System Administrators and Technical Managers. In addition to the principal audience of System Administrators other MIS support personnel would benefit from this course. In some organizations persons whose principal duties are technical may also be required to perform the tasks instructed in this course.

• Identify the effects of upgrading a Windows NT domain to a Windows 2000 domain.

Unit 2: Domain Upgrade: Implementing

• Sequence the steps to upgrade a Windows NT server to a Windows 2000 server.
• Configure a PDC by using Active Directory Installation Wizard.
• Identify the requirements for upgrading a BDC.
• Install a DNS server in a Windows 2000 domain by using Control Panel.
• Configure an RRAS server in a Windows 2000 domain by using the RRAS console.
• Identify the considerations for upgrading a Windows NT application server to a Windows 2000 application server.
• Configure TCP/IP addressing by using the Network Properties dialog box.
• Sequence the steps to configure DHCP by using the DHCP console.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

• At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
• Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
• At least 8MB RAM.
• At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
• At least a double speed CDROM drive.
• An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).

• At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
