Description

This is the second course in a three part series that will provide Web developers the knowledge to create static and dynamic HTML pages.

Audience

This course is intended for Web developers who are responsible for creating static and dynamic HTML pages. Participants should have completed the first course in the series.

Prerequisites

(Currently no course prerequisite information)

Objective

  • Create and format HTML forms and form fields.
  • Use VBScript to control objects on a Web page.
  • Create interactive Web pages by adding ActiveX controls and Java applets.

Topics Include

Unit 1: Forms

  • Identify the functions of forms.
  • Add a form to a Web page.
  • Add fields to a form.
  • Send form results.
  • Add form field validation rules.
  • Add search capabilities to a Web site.
  • Set field control properties.
  • Set form field control properties.
  • Match the HTML form field tag attributes to their corresponding functionality.
  • Match the formatting option to its corresponding HTML code.

Unit 2: Scripting in FrontPage 98

  • Identify the feature of Client-Side script.
  • Identify the characteristics of a script tag.
  • Identify the rules that variables follow in VBScript.
  • Identify the levels at which a variable can be declared.
  • Match the looping and branching statements with their definitions.
  • Identify the procedure that can return a value.
  • Identify the components of a variant data type.
  • Insert code using the Script Wizard.
  • Add an object identifier to an object on a Web page.
  • Insert initialization code to specify active events on the initial load of a page.
  • Add code that will have an event occur when the users clicks a button.
  • Insert code that manages form level properties of an object button.
  • Enter code to validate the results of user input.
  • Identify the reason why a run-time error may occur.
  • Identify features of the Script Debugger.

Unit 3: Active Components and Office Integration

  • Match active components to their corresponding functionality.
  • Set the security level for downloading from your site on the Internet.
  • Sequence the steps to enable an ActiveX control.

  • Set design-time property settings for an ActiveX control on a Web page.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and XXMB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
