Description

This is the second course in a five part series that will help students prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam 70-152, Designing and Implementing Web Solutions with Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0. At the completion of this course, students will learn to identify the deployment stages of a Web project and create a Web project; deploy applications on the Web and use the team development tools to enhance application quality; identify the advantages of using DHTML in Web applications.

Audience

This course series is designed for site developers who perform architectural planning, technology selection, or Web site programming tasks. This series will help students prepare for the Microsoft Certified Professional exam 70-152, Designing and Implementing Web Solutions with Microsoft Visual InterDev 6.0. Participants should have completed the first course in the series.

Unit 1: Visual InterDev - An Introduction

  • Match the key components of the Project Explorer window with their descriptions.
  • Identify the uses of the different views in the HTML Editor Window.
  • Install FrontPage server extensions.
  • Sequence the stages to deploy a Web project.
  • Create a Web Project.
  • Create a site diagram containing HTML and ASP pages.
  • Create a hierarchical relationship among pages in a site diagram.
  • Add site navigation to a Web page by using the PageNavbar Design-Time Control.
  • Modify the layout of a page.
  • Create a Cascading Style Sheet.
  • Modify the properties of a page by using the HTML Editor window.
  • Add controls to a tab in the Toolbox.
  • Modify the layout of a Web page by using the HTML menu.
  • Create a table by using the Table menu in the HTML Editor window.
  • Create a hyperlink.
  • Create an HTML form by using the HTML Controls tab.
  • Create frames on a Web page by using the FRAMESET tag.
  • Identify the uses of the values of the TARGET attribute.
  • Group the elements of an HTML page.

Unit 2: Web Application: Deployment

  • Write the HTML command to add sound to a Web page.
  • Publish a Web application by using the Project menu.
  • Replicate a Web application by using the Server Manager window.
  • Identify an appropriate navigational scheme for a given situation.
  • Release the working of a project file by using the Project menu title.
  • Identify the requirements to use source control with Web files.
  • Install Visual SourceSafe 6.0 by using the Microsoft Visual Studio 6.0 Enterprise Edition.

Unit 3: Scripting and DHTML

  • Identify the advantages of server-side scripts and client-side scripts.
  • Create a client-side script by using Script Outline.
  • Validate the user input by using the HTML form.
  • Match the browser objects with their descriptions.
  • Detect the browser version by using the Navigator object.
  • Add an error handler to the client-site script.
  • Manipulate variables by using the Locals pane.
  • Identify the uses of visual filters.
  • Identify the uses of transitions.
  • Add dynamic content to a Web page by using the HTML property.
  • Create a dynamic outline on a Web page by adding a parent item and a child item to the client-side script by using the HTML code.
  • Write the VBScript code to expand and collapse items.
  • Identify the methods and properties exposed by the browser and the scriptlet.
  • Expose a custom event by creating a VBScript procedure.
  • Create an event handler to handle a custom event in the host page by using a VBScript code.
  • Add a DHTML scriptlet to a Web page.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently, only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
