Audience
This course is intended for networking professionals who will be responsible for administering NetWare 4.11 networks. In addition participants should have completed the first two parts of this series (Courses 81301 and 81302).
Objective
- Automate the user environment to allow easy access to the network services and resources.
- Implement NDS security to regulate access to network resources.
- Describe how the Directory tree structure affects network use and how to manage network resources.
- Perform the additional administrative tasks using NetWare.

Unit 1: Automating the User Environment
- Install Client 32 for Windows 95.
- Configure Network Parameters using the Network Configuration Page.
- Install Client 32 for Windows 3.1.
- Modify the NET.CFG File for Windows 3.1.
- Execute the Automatic Client Upgrade.
- Identify the types of login scripts.
- Recommend procedures that should be executed during login.
- Create a User login script.
- Identify the benefits of NetWare Application Manager.
- Configure NDS to access network applications using NAL.
- Launch a network application using NAL.
Unit 2: Setting up NDS Security
- Identify the functions of NDS security.
- Identify the similarities and differences between NDS security and file system security.
- Identify the features of an Object Trustee.
- Manage Object Trustees.
- Set Inherited Rights Filter (IRFs) to control object rights inheritance.
- Identify the Effective Object Rights of a User object.
- Manage object property rights.
- Set IRF to control property rights.
- Determine the Effective Property Rights for the object.
- Identify the guidelines to manage NDS security.
- Assign additional rights.
- Manage NDS security.
Unit 3: Managing Resources in the Directory Tree
- Identify the advantages of the Directory tree structure.
- Identify the correct name of the User object.
- Access resources in a container.
- Identify the commands used to access resources in the Directory tree.
- Log into a network.
- Map network drives to access resources in other contexts.
- Create shortcuts to objects in other contexts.
- Redirect print jobs to other contexts.
- Grant rights to the file system in other context.
- Establish the initial context for a DOS workstation.
- Edit the login scripts.
Unit 4: Performing Additional Administrative Tasks
- Identify the functions of Storage Management Services.
- Select a backup strategy.
- Backup a file system using SBACKUP.
- Restore data using SBACKUP.
- Differentiate the requirements of NetWare 4.11 Simple and Custom Installation in terms of: Protocols required Disk partitions
- Sequence the steps for installing NetWare 4.11 using the Simple Installation option.
- Install a NetWare 4.11 server using the Simple Installation option.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
