Audience

System Administrators who are responsible for the setup maintenance and administration of a corporate groupware communication installation. Students should have administration experience with NetWare Administrator and NDS. They should also have an understanding of TCP/IP protocols and IP addressing including DNS and DHCP. In addition they should have taken the first two parts in this series (courses 81605-06) prior to taking this course. This series is based on Novell course 350 and will help Novell CNA and CNE certification candidates prepare for exam 50-633.

  • Identify accounts page options nicknames and internal entities.
  • Identify renaming and moving GroupWise mailboxes.
  • Identify database maintenance.
  • Identify database maintenance issues database maintenance and Standalone GroupWise Check.
  • Identify client maintenance.
  • Identify scheduling maintenance events and maintaining directory store databases.
  • Identify backing up databases and domain databases.

Unit 1: Administration Tasks: Objects

  • Assign a GroupWise account to an NDS user using NetWare Administrator.
  • Match the GroupWise Account page options with their descriptions.
  • Create a GroupWise nickname for a user using NetWare Administrator.
  • Create a GroupWise external entity using NetWare Administrator.
  • Create a GroupWise distribution list using NetWare Administrator.
  • Create a resource object using NetWare Administrator.

  • Delete a GroupWise post office account using GroupWise View.
  • Move a group of library documents using the GroupWise client.

  • Delete a nickname from a Novell Directory Services (NDS) tree using NetWare Administrator.

  • Identify the system elements that are affected by renaming a GroupWise mailbox.
  • Rename a GroupWise mailbox using NetWare Administrator.
  • Sequence the steps of the GroupWise mailbox renaming process.
  • Identify the tasks to be performed when preparing to move a mailbox.
  • Identify the considerations for determining the number of user mailboxes to move at one time.
  • Move a GroupWise mailbox from one post office to another post office using NetWare Administrator.
  • Sequence the steps of the database information change process.
  • Sequence the steps of the database movement process.
  • Sequence the steps of the message movement process.

Unit 3: Database Maintenance

  • Identify the categories of GroupWise database maintenance.
  • Identify the problems that occur with databases.
  • Identify the symptoms of Mailbox/Library Maintenance problems.
  • Identify the maintenance functions of the POA.
  • Access the Mailbox/Library Maintenance tool using GroupWise View.
  • Match the User/Resource Maintenance actions with their functions.
  • Match the Library Maintenance actions with their functions.
  • Match the additional maintenance options with their functions.
  • Perform maintenance on a GroupWise user object using the Analyze/Fix Expire/Reduce and Mailbox Statistics actions.
  • Identify the situations in which GWCHECK is to be used.
  • Identify the steps of the GWCHECK process.
  • Run GWCHECK from the Windows Start menu.

Unit 4: Client Maintenance

  • Schedule an event for the POA using NetWare Administrator.
  • Identify how scheduled events can be used to fix database problems.

  • Identify the index maintenance issues for a GroupWise system.
  • Rebuild an index using NetWare Administrator.
  • Back up a post office using the GWBACK32.EXE procedure.
  • Identify the situations in which you use DBCOPY.EXE to back up database files.
  • Identify the situations in which you use XCOPY to restore directories.
  • Archive and delete documents from a library in a post office using NetWare Administrator.
  • Identify the reasons to move archived documents to a backup medium.
  • Determine where a document has been archived using the GroupWise client.

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
