Novell GroupWise 5.5 User Fundamentals

Audience

This course is intended for end users. Participants should have a basic understanding Microsoft Windows 95 or higher or should have taken the Microsoft Windows 95 Fundamentals course (Course 70011).

Objective

  • Teach the learner how to manage messages in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Teach learners how to use the Address Book in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Teach learners how to employ both personal and group calendars in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Teach the learner document management in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Teach the learner about the necessary preparation required configuration and operation of GroupWise 5.5 in Remote Mode.

Topics Include

Unit 1: Managing Messages

  • Match the GroupWise 5.5 folder name with its function.
  • Match each of the GroupWise 5.5 navigational tools with its function.
  • Identify the features of GroupWise Desktop.
  • Identify the basic message types available in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Open a Mail message using the Action menu.
  • Send a Mail message in the Mail view using the File menu.
  • View an attachment to a Mail message using GroupWise 5.5.
  • Reply to a Mail message using the Actions menu.
  • Forward a Mail message using the Actions menu.
  • Print a Mail message using the File menu.
  • Delete a Mail message using the Edit menu.
  • Restore a deleted Mail message using the Edit menu.
  • Save a draft of a Mail message using the File menu.
  • Match each of the Send options from the Send Options dialog box to the function it provides.
  • View the status of a Mail message using the File menu.
  • Archive a Mail message from the Mailbox folder using the Actions menu.
  • Retract a sent Mail message using the Edit menu.
  • Build a filter for the Mailbox folder using the View menu.
  • Create a Personal folder in the Cabinet folder using the File menu.
  • Delete a Personal folder using the Edit menu.
  • Move a Personal folder to a specified location using GroupWise 5.5.
  • Rename a Personal folder using the File menu.

Unit 2: Using Address Books

  • Address a Mail message using the Address Book.
  • Send a Mail message to a group using the Address Book.
  • Create a personal address book using the Address Book.
  • Perform a Search List search on an address book using the Address Book.
  • Share a personal address book with other users using the File menu in the GroupWise Address Book.

Unit 3: Employing Calendars

  • Identify the calendar views that are available in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Post an appointment to a personal calendar using the Posted Appointment command.
  • Post a task to a personal calendar using the Posted Task command.
  • Create a reminder note on a personal calendar using the Reminder notes window.
  • Reschedule an appointment on a personal calendar using the Month tab.
  • Print a personal calendar in a specified format using the File menu.
  • Schedule a meeting on a group calendar using the File menu.
  • Send a group task using the Create New Task button.
  • Retract a group meeting using the Delete key.

Unit 4: Managing Documents

  • Identify the features of a document library.
  • Establish a default document library using the Tools menu.
  • Import a document into a document library using Quick Import.
  • Create a new document in a library using the File menu.
  • Check out a document from a document library using the Actions menu in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Check a document into a document library using the Actions menu in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Copy a document in a document library using the Actions menu in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Delete a document from a document library using the Edit menu in GroupWise 5.5.
  • Perform a Standard Find for a document using the Tools menu in GroupWise 5.5.

Unit 5: Working in Remote Mode

  • Assign a password to access the Master Mailbox in Remote Mode using the Tools menu.
  • Configure the system information for GroupWise Remote Mode using the Tools menu.
  • Match the GroupWise connection type with its description.
  • Establish a modem connection for GroupWise Remote Mode using the Tools menu.
  • Match the Remote menu command with its function.
  • Connect to the master GroupWise system using the Remote menu.
  • Update a mailbox using Hit the Road.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
