This is the fifth course in a five-part series on Novell NetWare 5 Administration. This course covers the concepts and methods associated with accessing resources in a multicontext Novell Directory Services (NDS) environment and the installation of a NetWare 5 server. This course is an approved study guide that will help you prepare for certification exam 50-639 and is equivalent to Novell class 560.

Audience
This course is intended for network support professionals who plan to manage or administer networks based on NetWare 5. Students should have a basic understanding of personal computers operating systems and network technology; experience with DOS; and a working knowledge of Windows 95 or Windows NT Workstation. This course is also intended for students interested in gaining their Certified Novell Administrator CNA or Certified Novell Engineer CNE Certification. In addition participants should have taken the first four parts of the Novell NetWare 5 Administration series (courses 82301-04).

Unit 1: Managing Resources
- Identify the benefits of Novell Directory Services (NDS) planning.
- Provide users with access to resources.
- Set the current context from the desktop before login.
- Map a network drive to a given volume from the desktop.
- Map a search drive from the desktop.
- Install a printer by using Novell Printer Manager.
- Create an alias for an object by using NetWare Administrator.
- Create a directory map object that points a folder in another context by using NetWare Administrator.
- Identify the features of group objects.
- Set up access to resources in a multicontext environment.
- Identify the guidelines you should follow for setting up resources in a multicontext environment.
- Match the rights needed with the tasks you must perform to grant a user access to NDS resources.
- Set up access to a folder in another container by using a directory map object.
- Add a user to a print server by using NetWare Administrator.
- Create a container login script to access the resources in a multicontext environment.
Unit 2: Installing NetWare 5
- Identify the concepts associated with installing a NetWare 5 server.
- Match the components of a NetWare 5 server with their functions.
- Identify the tasks that you need to perform before installing a NetWare 5 server.
- Perform the steps to install a NetWare 5 server.
- Perform the CIU phase of the NetWare 5 server installation.
- Perform the GUI phase of the NetWare 5 server installation.
- Identify the NetWare 5 Server options that you can customize for performing specific tasks.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
