This is the fourth course in a five-part series on Novell NetWare 5 Advanced Administration. This series provides the knowledge and skills necessary to design configure and administer a complex NetWare 5 network. This course will cover installing and maintaining a Web server installing and configuring a Novell File Transfer Protocol (FTP) server and securing the Novell Directory Services (NDS) tree.

Audience
Network administrators or other networking professionals that provide service and support for the NetWare 5 environment. This course is intended for experienced networking professionals. Students should have completed the NetWare 5 Administration series (82301-05) prior to taking this course and the first three parts of this series (courses 82311-13). Participants should also have a basic understanding of personal computers operating systems and network technology as well as experience with DOS and a working knowledge of Windows 95 or Windows NT. This course series is an approved study guide that will help certification candidates prepare for exam 50-640 and is equivalent to Novell class 570.
Objective
- Install and maintain a Web server.

- Identify the trustees generated at the initial tree creation and the rights granted to them.
- Identify the default rights assigned to new containers.
- Identify the trustees created during server installation and the default rights assigned to them.
- Match the trustee default rights with the tasks allowed by those rights.
- Identify the guidelines for assigning additional NDS rights.
- Identify the guidelines for protecting the Admin users' access to objects in the NDS tree.
- Distinguish the tasks which should be centrally administered from the tasks which can be distributed.
- Demonstrate the steps to create container administrators.
- Demonstrate the steps to create an exclusive container administrator.
- Demonstrate the procedure for granting explicit administrative rights to a trustee.
- Perform the steps to prevent an organizational role object from inheriting Supervisor rights to a file system.
- Perform the steps to prevent a user object from inheriting rights to the file system.

Minimum Requirements
The CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
