Novell NDS Design and Implementation - Part 2
Audience

Network administrators and network designers or consultants. Participants should have taken the Novell NetWare 5 Administration series (courses 82301-05) Novell NetWare 5 Advanced Administration series (courses 82311-15) and the first part in this series (course 82501) prior to taking this course. This is an approved study guide that will help you prepare for certification exam 50-634 and is equivalent to Novell class 575.

  • Perform the steps to implement an NDS Design.

Unit 1: Planning the User Environment

  • Identify the elements that comprise the needs analysis document.
  • Identify the NDS objects used to create a user environment.
  • Identify bindery services.

Unit 2: NDS Design Implementation

  • Perform the steps to prepare for the merge of two NDS trees.
  • Perform the steps to merge two NDS trees.
  • Perform the steps to confirm NDS tree stability and to complete merge clean-up tasks.
  • Sequence the steps to view partitions using NDS Manager.
  • Perform the steps to create partitions.
  • Perform the steps to move container objects.
  • Perform the steps to replicate a partition using NDS Manager.
  • Perform the steps to apply a WAN network manager policy.
  • Perform the steps for naming standards for the upper and lower NDS tree layers.
  • Perform the steps to construct Z.E.N. works objects.
  • Perform the steps to construct client accessibility.
  • Perform the steps to standardize the file system structure.
  • Perform the steps to provide access to mobile users.
  • Perform the steps to implement network security measures.
  • Perform the steps to create a user template object.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
