This course addresses how to use Netscape Navigator which includes My Sidebar customizable searches and themes; Netscape Mail; Netscape Instant Messenger; and Netscape Composer. It introduces the function of each of these and teaches learners how to use the key features of each.

The target audience for this course is End users. This course will teach the basics of using Netscape 6. It will not be based on any existing instructor-led materials or certification objectives. The overall goal for this course is to teach learners how to use Netscape 6 in their daily work.

Unit 1: The Internet Environment
- Identify the characteristics of the Internet.
- Identify the main services provided on the Internet.

- Identify the features of Netscape Navigator.

- Identify the capabilities of Netscape Instant Messenger.
- Identify the functions of Netscape Composer.
- Identify the features of the Netscape Address Book.

- Create a user profile.
- Identify the features of the My Sidebar utility.
- Locate a Web page by using the Location box.
- Navigate the Web by using hyperlinks and toolbar buttons.

- Set a Web page to be your Navigator home page.
- Hide Navigator toolbars.

- Bookmark a Web page and move the bookmark to a folder.

Unit 3: Netscape Navigator Advanced Features
- Identify the features of Web search engines.

- Identify the features of the Personal Security Manager.
- Identify common multimedia formats.
- Identify the functions of multimedia plug-ins.
- Install a multimedia plug-in.
- Install SmartDownload.
- Identify the ways to customize the desktop.
- Identify the ways to customize My Netscape.
Unit 4: Netscape Mail and Address Book
- Match Mail configuration options with their descriptions.
- Configure basic Mail options.
- Add entries to your address book.
- Identify the features of the Mail interface.
- Send a message with an attachment.
- Reply to a message.
- Sign on to Instant Messenger.
- Add a name to your Buddy List.
- Send an instant message.
- Invite buddies to chat.
- Send a chat message.

Minimum RequirementsThe CDROM version of this course requires:
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
- At least a double speed CDROM drive.
- An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
- At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
- Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
- At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
- At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
