Audience

The audience for this course includes application developers software engineers and other network designers. Candidates for this exam create interactive Web pages using client- and server-side Web applications; access relational database systems from Web applications; implement applications using component technology; and create parameters for environment variables. Prerequisites include CIW Foundations series certification (exam 1D0-410) and CIW Web Languages certification (JavaScript 1D0-435 and Perl 1D0-437 exams) or equivalent experience for those students not seeking Master CIW Enterprise Developer certification. This course covers exam 1D0-430. In addition students should have taken the first course of this series (87051).

  • Identify guidelines for securing a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) script.

Unit 1: Managing Files

  • Identify the syntax used to save form data by using the param method.
  • Identify characteristics of the save method.
  • Identify the syntax used to modify form data.
  • Identify characteristics of pattern matching in Perl.
  • Identify the code used to create a file from form data.
  • Identify the code used to parse a file.
  • Identify characteristics of regular expressions used in pattern matching.
  • Identify the code used to format data from a flat file.

Unit 2: Databases

  • Add a record to a database.
  • Delete records in a database.
  • Update database records.
  • Identify the syntax of the do method.
  • Identify characteristics of database interaction.
  • Identify characteristics of the database interaction process.
  • Identify the syntax used to connect to a database.
  • Identify the syntax of basic Structured Query Language (SQL) statements.
  • Identify the syntax used to quote SQL statements.
  • Identify the code used to query table and field names.
  • Identify the code to retrieve data from a relational database.
  • Identify the code used to filter data when querying databases.

Unit 3: Security

  • Identify types of security risks imposed on a server.
  • Identify guidelines for security precautions.
  • Identify guidelines for securing a Common Gateway Interface (CGI) script.
  • Identify guidelines for securing the server.
  • Identify guidelines for securing form data.
  • Identify the syntax used to avoid the exploitation of susceptible methods.
  • Identify the code used to authenticate passwords.

Minimum Requirements

The CDROM version of this course requires:

  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
  • At least a double speed CDROM drive.
  • An MPC compliant sound card with attached speakers or headphones is recommended (Currently only the CDROM version supports audio).
The network version of this course requires:
  • At least a 486DX 33Mhz CPU.
  • Microsoft Windows 3.1 or higher and a Microsoft compatible mouse.
  • At least 8MB RAM and 22MB available hard disk space or file server space.
  • At least VGA graphics capability with a minimum 512K video RAM (1MB video RAM recommended).
