This course is designed to present a comprehensive view of the client/server application. The course outlines the structure and elements of client/server architecture interfaces available strategies in accessing data from the client side through queries and tools available with SQL Server 7.0 to improve and enhance the query process. The student will learn to create a multi-tiered client/server structure and to use OLE DB ActiveX ODBCDirect Microsoft English Query Query Analyzer and to create and evaluate queries. In a corporate setting the primary factors in implementing a client/server application are the client/server architecture the client-side means for manipulating data client-side design and optimization techniques and means of accessing the data. The special features that distinguishes SQL Server 7.0 from version 6.5 are highlighted including query improvements such as support for heterogeneous queries and a new query product that allows users to submit queries in English. This course is written to SQL Server 7.0. Prerequisites
